Aquafaq is the public name of Aqua Fisheries Aquaculture LLC. The company was established in 2020 to build an aquaculture platform on Dalma Island, Abu Dhabi.
The lease is 156,118 square metres on land and 250,000 square metres at sea. The current offering is sea cages at a design capacity of 5,000 tonnes. A hatchery of 40 million juveniles a year, a feed plant of 60,000 tonnes and processing of 20,000 tonnes are planned for later phases, after Phase 3.
These are design capacities, not a statement of fish already harvested.
Shrimp in recirculating water and mud crab in a vertical system are future projects, each planned at 5,000 tonnes.
